Traverse City Hiking

Need to stretch those legs? Take a summer hike into the beautiful scenery of the Traverse City area. When the weather’s warm, you can stroll through a shady forest at the Miller Creek Nature Preserve or the Sand Lakes Quiet Area – and if you prefer wide open spaces, try a hike to Pyramid Point or Empire Bluffs at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

If you want to blaze new trails, try the just-finished Boardman River Trail near Mayfield – and if you’d just like to tour Traverse City from a different perspective, enjoy the Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation (TART) Trail, whose signature trail is a 10.5-mile paved pathway that stretches east-west across the city.
